Well, as of today, there has been no further contact with our local JW missionaries. Their materials are by the kitchen door, so that I may return them and save the missionaries some expense. Charity in all things.
All in all, it has been a good exercise in apologetics. I learned more about a denomination I may have further opportunity to interact with and am in a better position to answer questions by fellow Christians, including the college students I see weekly at the campus ministry.
I will have to watch for a NWT Bible when I'm about thrift store and library book sales. If I can find a Greek interlinear NWT for my library, that would be awesome.
God bless all of you who have been visting and commenting, including the JW visitors.

Nice blog.
I was a JW for 20 years, and at one point, I knew most of the NWT/NT by heart.
The issue I took with it over the years is that it seemed difficult to read (especially Romans, for some reason...), that is to say, its not very "readable".
Once I began looking into other translations I discovered how much bias the NWT actually had in translating the Greek. They insert the Hebrew Divine name 'Jehovah', in the NT 237, in the majority of the cases, it is a "contextual" placement, as they admit.
Many, many have cited examples of heavy unitarian bias in this one.
I dont even use it anymore; I opt for the NKJ for "study", and the NLT for "readability".

Your first mistake was allowing the JW's to know who you were. If they have any idea that you are even remotely familiar with Scripture enough to not be sucked into their way of thinking, they will not continue to meet with you. They claim to have the truth, but rarely ever try to even defend their version of it when faced with someone who knows the Word.

Additionally, I have available for you, if you wish, a four-part audio debate in which I contended for the faith with JWs who visited my home.
